There is no point in trying to get Freesat on a Sky digibox. All the channels on Freesat (except ITV HD) are on Sky anyway, so you wouldn’t notice a difference.
The Sky receivers have their own EPG (Electronic Programming Guide – this is where you select your channels). The channel line ups are fixed, you can’t move or delete channels. The free channels are somewhere in between all the subscription channels which makes using the digibox a pain for free channels only.
And that’s the reason why you would want to get Freesat, so that you can sort the channels the way you want. And of course to get ITV HD and maybe use a PVR receiver to record and pause channels without paying extra fees.

hi all, you say that all channels available on freesat are available on freesky.
i recieve bbc1 my location is corfu greece, i have a 2.4 meter dish, however when i try to view bbchd, it asks me to call a number, it does not say “no signal”
so with that in mind would i be able to view bbchd if i had a freesat box, or indeed a sky hd box,
any replies would be grateful

That’s right but remember you need a HD Plasma or LCD TV, too.

A sky box with no sky card gets all the free to air channels a freesat box wold get.
A sky box wiht a frreesatfomsky card or an ex subscription card will get all the free to air channels, and the free to view channels.
Freeview is a UK ONLY digital terrestrial systems, via a TV aerial. There are channels on Freeview, that are not on Freeview and are sky subscription on satellite.
Freeeview is not available on satellite
So if you want freeview in your sons room, install a tv aerial, buy a freeview receiver, and connect the freeview receiver to the TV areial and off you go.
