A recent post (Channel 5, Channel 5 +1, 5 USA, 5 USA +1, 5* , 5* +1, Channel 5 +1 are now available free to air. mentioned that the Channel Five group of channels recently changed their frequencies and became “free to air”.
This was true apart for all but one regional version of “Channel Five”. This lone version of Channel Five used ot be located on a satellite frequency “loaned” to Five by the BBC. This was to help facilitate Channel Fives appearance onto Freesat.
However in the last week, this “Freesat” version has joined the other Channel Five regions on their new frequency on 10965 H 22 5/6.
Most Sky and Freesat box users should not have noticed any difference as the changes should have been done automatically.
However, in some cases it has required the rebooting of a Sky box, to a new “Freesat” channel scan, as some boxes have not automatically updated to be using the new frequency.

Dear UK Satellite Help
I’d like to come in on the statement in your post, where you say:
“However in the last week, this “Freesat” version has joined the other Channel Five regions on their new frequency on 10965 H 22 5/6.”
We have recently lost the ability to view Channel 5 on Freesat – is it maybe due to the change in the last week?
Today we retuned the Hauppauge tuner card we’re using to get Freesat, as we’d lost Ch.5. After the retune, we still have a blank screen for Ch.5, though the “Channel Finder” gives the following for Ch.5:
33 Channel 5 Frequency: 10773MHz (H) Service ID 6335
Our hardware/software setup is:
Tuner Card: HauppaugeWinTV-NOVA-S-Plus
Software: WinTV v7.0.29304 (CD 2.4d)
Our dish points to:
Satellite: 28.2E (Astra 2A) Freesat Only
[LOF1: 9750 LOF Switch: 11700 LOF2: 10600 - whatever that means?]
If you can give us a pointer, please, that would be great, or maybe it’s Channel 5 themselves that aren’t done with their changes? (I note that our tuner says Ch.5 is on #33, while your post says the other Channel 5 stations are on #129-132, and doesn’t give a Freesat channel number for plain old Channel 5?
Your post: “129: 5 USA, 130: 5 USA +1, 131: 5*, 132: 5* +1 ”
We don’t get any of these 4.)
Thanks in advance for help. In love and peace, Patrick

Patrick:
Your Hauppauge is not a Freesat branded tuner.
It does not havt the Freesat logo on, or the freesat software.
You are not getting Freesat.
You are getting “free to air” channels.
Channel Five is no longer on 10773. Thats why when you scan that frequency, you do not get Channel Five. Scan its new frequency 10965 H 22 5/6.
If you have rescanned the new frequency, perhaps your software has added channel five to the bottom of the list? It will not removed the chabnnel you have on “33″, unless you ask it to.
As you are not actually using a Freesat branded product, then the channel numbers I mention for Freesat will not apply to you. Thats why you get Channel Five on your channel “33″, and not on “105″ like Freesat receivers do.

Dear SatandPCGuy
Thanks very much for clearing up the confusion (Hauppauge calls the Astra 2A satellite we’re using a “Freesat Only” satellite).
Turned out to be an Hauppauge thing. Once i downloaded the latest software (2.5) it worked fine! Now we can view Channel 5 and Channel 5+1 from our free to air selections.
Well done!
